... Cead Mile Failte ...
We have heard the whispers of the Celtic call...A call that brings us to Villa Nova, a sanctuary and private retreat house, a peaceful haven along the Atlantic coast path. One that offers us respite from the outer world and that calls us to who we are and where we come from.
You will be invited to be a co-creator with the metal and the elements of sound and nature, birthing of a vibrational frequency that has the capacity to impact the future, honour the past and allow an immersion in the wider community and landscape.
These bowl making workshops invite you to enter a period of deep, intimate presence and personal space with the land and the very call to the heart of the matter...
There is much assistance and even magic available as we open ourselves to this journey. . .
Crafting your own Singing Bowl -
Experience Sound Alchemy in Ireland
The Forge @ Villa Nova - a sanctuary and still space on the Atlantic Coast of Donegal
If you have ever wondered what it is to be in the mystery and awe of creation you may find it here - a generous and peaceful space for co-creating sound. Through the alchemy of creating your own singing bowl in connection with the ancients and the elementals of this peaceful haven in County Donegal you will experience transformation at many levels. Through this work of metal and sound smithing we draw upon the Elements of Craft, the Elementals of Nature and our place as co-creators within the circle of life on Earth.
The days begin and close with Sound to assist and create the vibrational field for crafting. The process is one through which you will not only be guided to work with your hands and the metals but also to hone your own reflective heart, inviting the elemental forces of nature and a co-creative consciousness to assist the crafting of a sounding vessel that will assist the transformation you are called to invite for your own life and future.
Throughout this immersive three days, you will scribe and cut the metal, working closely with the fire and all of the elements to sink and shape a finely crafted sounding vessel. Through fire, water, metal, hammer, hand and heart, sound will be both creator and created.
A record keeper and a close ally… sound as a companion and assistance to the creation of the healing states of harmony, peace and stillness.
“Working with Gabriella and Heather has been the deepest and most profound experience of transformation for me. Never before have I felt so safe in a workshop. My process with my bowl was tough at times, and always - like a miracle - one of these beautiful enablers showed up to be with me. Sometimes to support me in the handling of the tools, sometimes to listen, sometimes to just be in silence together for a while, sometimes to ask this one question that allowed me to move on. Three souls who can hold the rim of the circle in wondrous ways… each bringing a unique voice to the whole. They co-create a sacred vessel - a healing sanctuary. Forging my own singing bowl has allowed me to re-connect with the elemental energies.”

Of the workshop Marie writes, "A powerful way of working with all the elements within us and around us.. Gabriella and Heather lead this wonderful work. You may wonder "What do I need with a singing bowl"...well ,throughout the weekend ,you work with all the journeys of your life, the old stories, creating a new story, letting go, clearing and so you hold in your hands a truly integrated story of your life. Wherever you sound your bowl you will be reminded of all that you are. It is a powerful process."
We offer this workshop on a residential or non-residential basis so as to make it possible for local soundsmiths to attend and also to those traveling from afar.

Our Venue: Villa Nova Retreat House
Bundoran, Co. Donegal
Villa Nova is a quiet and large retreat house, lovingly referred to as the old lady. 'She' opens her doors and heart as a generous host for groups of people working closely with the transformation of spirit and earth, and houses a hearth that is kept warmed and fed by the compassionate fire of Brigid, also the keeper of the forge in the Celtic way.
The invitation for us to bring our workshop here is once again brought to us by our friend and member, Marie Evans and is met with real warmth and gratitude. It is a privilege to be present in a space through which the energies are awake and alive to assist our work to create and forge new vibrational sounding instruments. There is nothing between the house and the constant companion that is the Atlantic ocean with its raw power and healing sound vibrations holding us in a wide embrace that will surely live at the centre of the forging through these three days in spring.
The accommodation is simple and comfortable. Each person will be provided with a single room with linen and a wash hand basin and shared bathroom facilities. We have generous and delicious food prepared and provided with predominantly vegetarian meals being prepared specially for us. Some of the vegetables will come in from the organic community garden at Villa Nova if the season allows.
In the true tradition of the Celtic hearth the fire represents the energy of presence and constancy, a quality that supports and nourishes the well being of the makers, the house, the land and those new instruments that are coming into being. This hearth space will be kept burning throughout each workshop. We are blessed to have Marie as part of our team for the first of these workshops bringing her medicine gifts to the group through the house and the kitchen as well as the circle of sound.
You can meet Marie in conversation as part of a series called Meet the Makers.
